Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about getting started, insurance, and what to expect from one-on-one care at Primal Shift.
In the state of Texas you can be treated for 30 days by a physical therapist without an outside referral. After this time, a referral or signed plan of care (we’ll send this for you after an evaluation to your preferred provider) is needed if treatment is still required.
No referral is necessary for non-injury related assessments and programming.
Yes! You can use your Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account for physical therapy services.
That depends on your specific insurance. We can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, however you have to check with your insurance to determine coverage.
We are considered an out-of-network provider. This allows us to treat you in a 1-on-1 setting where you will only be seen by a Doctor of Physical Therapy who comes up with an individualized plan of care not dictated by insurance companies. That means you get treatment that is determined to be best for you by your Physical Therapist and not just what insurance companies will cover, which results in faster recovery and optimal results!
You should expect 1-on-1 care from a Doctor of Physical Therapy. You will receive a comprehensive assessment of your condition through movement analysis and tissue specific testing to determine root causes and develop a thorough plan of care to help you reach your goals. Treatment sessions typically involve manual therapy interventions to improve mobility and decrease pain, individualized exercises and interventions for your specific condition, education on further injury prevention and pain, and instruction on proper body mechanics to return to the activities you love.
You should wear comfortable clothing that is non restrictive to movement or exercise.
That depends on your specific goals and impairments. After your initial evaluation your Doctor of Physical Therapy can determine how many sessions you might need to reach your goals.
